DNA replication?

A. begins when two DNA molecules join together to exchange segments

B. occurs by the addition of nucleotides to the end of the DNA molecule

C. results in the formation of four new DNA strands

D. uses each strand of a DNA molecule as a template for the creation of a new strand

E. produces two daughter DNA molecules that are complementary to each other

Is the correct answer D?

DNA replication?
Lets see what happens in DNA replication or multiplication is the DNA coils opens and each strand DNA now gets the new nucleotides and generates a complementary DNA strand and in the end you have 2 DNA molecules

Analyse

a) says joins instead of separates so the verb used itself is incorrect

b) addition is not occurring it is multiplication so no no....

c) four is wrong it is 2 new strands

d) goes by the definition

e) can be right but the DNA molecules are not complementary on the new strands are complementary and DNA molecule are similar.

thats why you are correct.
Reply:YES

DNA replication is the process of copying a double-stranded DNA molecule. This process is important in all known life forms and the general mechanisms of DNA (Deoxyribonucleic acid) replication are not the same in prokaryotic and eukaryotic organisms. As each DNA strand holds the same genetic information, both strands can serve as templates for the reproduction of the opposite strand. The template strand is preserved in its entirety and the new strand is assembled from nucleotides. This process is called semiconservative replication. The resulting double-stranded DNA molecules are identical..
Reply:Yes, D is correct, but C is ambigous...if you take into account that the two copies of the chromosome both make new strands, then they would indeed produce four new strands.
Reply:ya, im thinking D
