7.) B: DNA within the nucleus is transcribed into mRNA. (go over the specific steps that occur within this stage. There is splicing occurring, caps being put on the pre mRNA and other steps as well). The mRNA contains the complement translation of the DNA. The ribosome translates each three DNA base set (called a codon) and "connects" it to an


anticodon on the tRNA. This of which releases the amino acid and a polypeptide start to fold.





8.) D: Thymine = Uracil in RNA only. (T = U) That is why D is the correct answer.





9.) B: DNA is read from a 5' to a 3' direction. So you have:


5' TGGCAAC 3'. The complementary strand is from 3' to 5'


3' ACCGTTG 5'.

10.) B: When DNA is needed to replicate in mitosis or during transcription of protein synthesis, it is important for the DNA to open "quickly."
